LOCATION OF POSITION

Annapolis, MD (Anne Arundel County)

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Integrated Policy and Review Unit, is seeking interested candidates for a contractual Administrative Officer II position which will be based at the Tawes State Office Building in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The selected candidate will manage reviews of projects proposed on State park lands. Work will include scoping and screening of proposed project sites for natural resource information and concerns, and managing coordination with other Units of the Department and other resource agencies to vet projects. Review objectives and functions are designed to assure project proposals are consistent with DNR Park Service's historical, cultural and recreational objectives in coordination with the many other DNR Units. Work will include maintaining a database, recording review comments received and information concerning the nature of the project. The incumbent will also work with Integrated Policy and Review Unit staff to complete project approvals or identify conditions required to be met for projects requiring environmental permits. Knowledge or interest in various aspects of park and park system management is desired. Use of natural resources GIS information and other data sources will be frequent. Work will include occasional field visits and meetings as part of the review and vetting process.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Two (2) years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

This position is limited to current Department of Natural Resources (DNR) employees only.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
