LOCATION OF POSITION

Central Portion of State (Baltimore, Howard, Carroll, and Harford Counties)

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Natural Resources Police (NRP), is currently accepting applications for five (5) Part-Time Contractual Natural Resources Police Officers to work in the Central Regional Counties of (Baltimore, Howard, Carroll, and Harford) Maryland. Basic duties will include law enforcement of State and federal laws and department rules and regulations as they apply to conservation, boating, DNR managed lands, criminal, civil, and traffic violations. Focus will be on assisting permanent NRP Officers primarily within Patapsco Valley/Gunpowder Falls State Parks with NRP law enforcement duties and responsibilities during peak State Park activity periods. Employees are required to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions, holidays, weekends, and varying shifts that may be longer than 8 hours. Recruitment open to those officers who are currently certified or eligible for recertification (within 3 years) by MPCTC.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: Currently or previously certified as a law enforcement officer by the Maryland Police & Correctional Training Commission within the last three (3) years.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous Natural Resources Police or Maryland Park Service Law Enforcement Officer experience is preferred but not required.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Recruitment open to those officers who are currently certified or eligible for recertification (within 3 years) by MPCTC.
