The Contractual Psychologist II is the full performance level of professional psychology staff work applying the science of psychology to the investigation, understanding and modification of human behavior and adjustment and providing psychological services such as diagnostic assessments, individual and group counseling and psychotherapy to persons considered emotionally disturbed, maladjusted, developmentally disabled or suffering from other psychological stress.  The main purpose of this position is to provide direct clinical services within a mental health setting.

Education:    Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under the licensing requirements for Psychologists.

Experience:  Two years of experience rendering psychological services or engaged in psychological research after receipt of the License as a Psychologist.

NOTE:

Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Clinical Psychology classifications or Psychology specialty codes in the Psychology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

1.  Candidates must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists prior to permanent appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a Maryland license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license has been obtained, submit a copy of the license to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Testing Unit to remove pending status.

2.  Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
