GRADE

This position is equivalent to a Grade 15 step 2.

Main Purpose of Job

To provide training and supervision to the inmate work force in a specified MCE product line while organizing and overseeing production in the area of responsibility.

POSITION DUTIES

The MCE Supervisor – Production is responsible for training and supervising an inmate work force in MCE plants located at WCI. He/she will be responsible for these assigned production processes. The duties include the training of the inmate workers in the production methods of a specified product. The incumbent supervises inmate workers in actual performance of the production process from determining raw material needs to preparation for shipping, and be able to prioritize the processes in order to meet ever-changing customer demands and delivery needs. Will be able set up and breakdown the various machinery located within the shop. Be able train/instruct inmates in proper use of production machinery. Will be able to produce shop drawings/cutting bills and bill-of-materials as needed for different jobs. Inspects work-in-process and finished goods to ensure quality standards are met. Must be flexible in order to accommodate operational demands, pay attention to detail, be a problem-solver, and be able to work well under pressure in adverse conditions.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from a standard High School or possession of a State High School
Equivalence Certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board or education as described in the Police and
Correctional Training Commission Regulations.

Experience: One year experience in a manufacturing plant or a related field.

Notes: (1) Specific educational requirements and other selections standards are set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209 or the Annotated Code and are listed in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12, Subtitle 10, and Chapter 01. (2) Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
