Main Purpose of Job

To ensure an effective learning environment as possible by providing a safe and secure services center.

POSITION DUTIES

Provides for the protection of the staff, clients, visitors and properties of the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS); identifies and reports any real or potential threats; maintains the electronic/computer security systems; serves as a liaison with Baltimore City Police Department and WTC staff; other duties as assigned.  Must possess good customer service skills.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:  High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Police Training Commission regulation.

NOTE:  The educational requirement is set by the Police Training Commission in accordance with Article 41, Section 4-201.

Experience:  Two years experience as a certified law enforcement officer. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification must be certified by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions (MPCTC) as a Police Officer at the time of application or be able to obtain re-certification as required by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions (MPCTC). (Applicants can be re-certified if they held certification less than 5 years prior to this announcement and hire, and they separated from their previous agency in good standing.) Employees in this classification are required to work a rotating shift and are subject to call-in duty; substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs; A Physical and Mental Health Examination indicating that the applicant is physically, emotionally and mentally fit and able to perform the duties of a police officer as determined by the employing law enforcement agency in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 12.04.01.08., and a satisfactory background investigation including a check of criminal history and verification of questions by a truth verification device in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 12.04.01.19.
