The Contractual Nutrition Program Trainee is the non-licensed entry level of work providing nutrition services to clients in a public health or community setting.  This position is responsible for learning how to implement and evaluate all phases of nutrition education and breastfeeding and outreach at the local agency level in order to promote the Agency's mission of improving the health status of pregnant and postpartum women, infants and children who are served by the program.  Through close supervision, the nutritionist trainee will learn all aspects of the WIC Program before going on to become competent in tasks such as eligibility determination, health and nutrition screening and offering referral services to WIC applicants.

Education:   A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Community Nutrition, Dietetics, Foods and Human Nutrition, Food Systems Management or Nutrition Education.

Experience:  None.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
