Main Purpose of Job

The primary function of this position is to provide administrative support to the Child Support Unit through a variety of assignments which includes answering and screening phone calls, sorting and distributing mail on a daily basis.  The position also provides back-up support for the front window for walk-in Child Support payments

POSITION DUTIES

Administrative Support:  Providing administrative assistance to the Assistant Director as well as procurement of supplies for the entire unit.

Telephone Coverage:  Emphasis is placed on answering and screening incoming child support calls to include Hot Calls from the Child Support Call Center.

Mail Processing: Distributing and/or scanning mail on a daily basis. Entering mail into verification system.

Back-Up Functions: Screen child support walk-in customers to assess what assistance is required.  Write receipts for customers that are making a child support payment at the agency. 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  Two years of experience performing clerical duties.

Notes: 

1.  Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.

2.  Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year for year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in the Child Support System and/or Department of Social Services.  

Experience providing direct customer service.
