Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide whole group, small group and/or individualized instruction to Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) customers using multiple curricula in employment readiness skills training. Plan daily lessons, prepare materials for instruction, assess learning using formal assessments, maintain records including attendance and achievement. Effectively manage classroom environment to maximize learning; coordinate content delivery of career development activities for employment & training for Cecil Co. Department of Social Services' Project WISH (Working Incentive Self Help) Program.
POSITION DUTIES
Provides group/individualized instruction to TCA customers; plans daily lessons, prepares materials for instruction, assesses learning using informal assessments, and maintains records including attendance and achievement.
Effectively manages classroom environment to maximizes learning; coordinates content delivery of career development activities for employment and training.
Utilizes automates system (OWRA) to assess individual customer's competencies; provides quality service to all customer when interacting in person, by telephone or in writing according to established guidelines.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.
Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.
2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate will possess:
A minimum of one (1) year experience in education including curriculum and program development, job readiness and employment training.
Experience in working with adults and those with mental illness, substance abuse issues and criminal backgrounds is a plus.
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
Candidates must be willing to work in Cecil County. This office is approximately 55 miles north of Baltimore City, off of Interstate 95, and is the last exit before Maryland/Delaware state line.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
