This is a contractual recruitment with no health or leave benefits.  The resulting certified eligible list will be used to staff this position/function only.  Interested persons may need to reapply for future recruitments within this classification.

POSITION DUTIES

The incumbent in this position will provide administrative and personnel support to the Employment Services Unit in the Office of Human Resources. This position involves the processing of permanent, contractual, temporary and season employment through personnel processes and via the automated MS310 system; processing, maintenance and scanning into various resources such as NuView HRIS System and CabinetNG imaging system to ensure effective record keeping, retrieval, and reporting of personnel records and activities; assisting the unit with the reconciliation of data; minimum qualification verification; conducting new employee orientation and special projects assigned by the supervisor or management of OHR. This position will also support and be cross-trained with the Benefits and Compensation and Recruitment and Testing Units.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of general clerical or administrative support experience at least one year of which must have been paraprofessional personnel experience involving the application of public sector procedures, policies, rules and regulations to specific employment actions. Appropriate paraprofessional personnel experience should have included responsibility for activities such as, preparing and maintaining employment records, calculating salaries, applying and interpreting rules and policies, preparing personnel-related reports, counseling employees regarding benefits and obligations, and responding to inquiries concerning employment actions.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

ONLY APPLICANTS WHO MEET THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS RECRUITMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.  The examination may consist of a rating of your education, training and experience.  It is essential that you submit complete and accurate information on your application in order to determine if you meet the qualifications as specified above, including an unofficial copy of your college diploma or transcripts as applicable.  Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of completing the application.  All information concerning your qualifications must be received by the closing date.   Successful candidates will be ranked as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified and placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year.

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview.  Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.  Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six month probationary period.  This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.
