Main Purpose of Job

This position involves criminal intelligence information gathering, analysis and dissemination to identify and evaluate crime series, patterns and trends in the area of vehicle and cargo theft and related criminal activities.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education - Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university

Experience - Two years of experience in administrative or professional work

NOTE:  Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university for the required general experience at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Experience - One year of experience in criminal intelligence gathering, analysis and dissemination.  This experience should specifically include research, analysis and collection of data from a variety of sources to identify and evaluate crime series, patterns and trends.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience - Experience in the area of law enforcement / public safety investigations with prior access and working knowledge of the CJIS, NICB and MVA computer databases.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to random substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulation 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.  In addition, candidates will be subject to an initial drug screening and a complete criminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination before appointment can be made.  A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.
