Main Purpose of Job

Providing supervision and guidance to youths residing in a facility operated by the Department of Juvenile Services by observing and interacting with youths, assisting youth with everyday life skills and advising them of appropriate alternative behavior as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

SELECTION PROCESS

This position is subject to the Correctional Service Article, Title 8, which requires compliance with the Maryland Correctional Training Commission selection/training standards; therefore the candidate will be required to receive a drug test, background check and physical/mental health exam.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is not a member of a covered bargaining unit and will not be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.

FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS

A background investigation will be conducted which includes, but is not limited to criminal history, child protective services records, state and national sex offender registry records, employment records, driving records and educational records.
