Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual Office Secretary III is work providing secretarial support to an official, administrator or administrative staff.  Employees in the Office Secretary III classification type on typewriters or on keyboards of personal computers, computer terminals or word processors using word processing software.  The purpose of this position is to assist in the administration of the Bureau of Prevention, Wellness and Recovery (BPWR) through provision of support to the BPWR Director and administrative staff.  The incumbent will provide administrative oversight of the Shelter Plus Care Program, participating in the planning process and preparation of required reports. The BPWR is responsible for the planning, managing and monitoring of publicly-funded behavioral health services.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  Three years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.

NOTES:

1.  Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2.  Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a typewriter or keyboard on a personal computer, computer terminal or work processor at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.
