Main Purpose of Job
The Contractual Computer User Support Specialist I is the intermediate level of work responding to and coordinating the resolution of Help Desk calls from users of computer systems. The main purpose of this position is to provide the communication and action link between the Board's internal and external information customers and the Information Technology (IT) staff. User's needs and requests are addressed through professional level interactions and often result in recommendations to IT management for hardware and software solutions. This position also aids in scheduling staff training sessions with the Communication, Education and Training Unit of the Board and assists with implementing training/orientation sessions for new staff. The successful applicant should have the ability to configure computer and peripheral devices to network, pay attention to detail, analyze computer problems, propose solutions and have experience in computer configuration and problem resolution of computer, network and printers.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of experience assisting in the operation of multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems to include operating computer equipment for maintaining information, or installing and maintaining data communications network lines and devices, or personal computer repair.
NOTE:
Experience operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing or maintaining information may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
