Main Purpose of Job
The Contractual Vision and Hearing Screening Technician Trainee is the entry level of vision and hearing screening work in a local health department. The purpose of this position is to protect and promote the health of school-aged children in Queen Anne's County in both the public and private sectors by assisting in the annual vision and hearing screenings within the school systems as assigned. The individual in this position is the trainee level learning to conduct hearing and vision screening tests for preschool and school-aged children in Queen Anne's County. The incumbent will also be trained to conduct hearing and vision screening tests to school children who may be developmentally, physically, or mentally disabled. The successful candidate should have experience working with preschool and school-aged children. This is a full-time contractual seasonal position.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalence certificate.
Experience: None.
NOTE:
Applicants may substitute experience operating audiometric and vision screening equipment in a vision and hearing screening program on a year for year basis for up to four years of the required education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
It is preferred that the successful candidate have experience working with preschool and school-aged children.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
