Main Purpose of Job

This position has the primary function of completing tasks with the compliance area of the Certification Unit and provides secondary support to the certification of law enforcement and correctional personnel. As a member of the Certification Unit, this position requires a complete understanding of the certification process and procedures and participates in the review and processing of documents to establish and renew the certification of mandated law enforcement and correctional personnel. This position assists the Compliance Officer with scheduling and conducting audits to ensure compliance with entry level and annual training and weapons qualifications and selection standards.

POSITION DUTIES

Some of the duties for this position include:

Coordinates and tracks a biennial & annual audit timeline for law enforcement and correctional academies; audit timeline for selection and training standards and assist in audits

Maintains a working knowledge of all Certification Unit files

Provides secretarial support to the Certification Administrator and Compliance Officer

Produces specialized reports for agency staff, law enforcement and correctional agencies as requested

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.

Notes:

1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
