Main Purpose of Job
The Contractual Mental Health Associate I provides counseling or other therapeutic services in the field of mental health in a State residential facility or local health department at the entry performance level. This position provides case management services for clients with mental illness and families of those clients, provides linkage to community resources, observes the mental status of clients and provides support and referral to treatment, as required. The employee will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university including 15 credit hours in a human service program. The program must have included either a supervised practicum in providing counseling or other therapeutic services to the mentally ill or at least nine credit hours in psychology, including abnormal psychology.
Experience: None.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desirable candidate must possess a current valid State of Maryland driver's license.
