Main Purpose of Job

This position will assist the Hazardous Waste Certification/Manifest Section Head by tracking, reviewing and issuing Controlled Hazardous Waste Substance Hauler and Vehicle Certifications, Special Medical Waste Hauler and Vehicle Certifications, Special Medical Waste identification numbers, EPA identification numbers, and hazardous waste manifests. This position is responsible for independent decisions pertaining to compliance with hazardous waste regulations and issuance of certifications and identification numbers.

POSITION DUTIES

The following duties are examples of assignments performed by the incumbent in this classification.  It is not a total comprehensive list of duties, nor is it restrictive regarding job assignments.

  • Assist in reviewing Controlled Hazardous Substance Hauler and Vehicle Applications and Special Medical Waste Hauler and Vehicle Applications.  Including but not limited to reviewing for compliance with regulations, entering information into a tracking database before and after certificate is issued, prepare file, scanning, monitor email account, and filing.
  • Assist in issuing special medical waste identification numbers.  Including but not limited to reviewing for compliance with regulations, tracking incoming applications, issued numbers, scanning, and filing.  Updating TEMPO with information from applications.
  • Assist in issuing EPA Identification number.  Including but not limited to reviewing for compliance with regulations, scanning, preparing files, and filing.  Updating TEMPO with information from applications.  Assist during Biennial Reporting time which includes but not limited to tracking in coming reports, researching companies and following up with companies.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

It is preferred that the selected candidate possess the following:

  • Do you have experience with 2007 Word, Access, Excel and Google?
  • Do you have at least 3 years of experience dealing with the public and providing excellent customer service.
