Main Purpose of Job

This is a professional position responsible for providing leadership and technical assistance, education and leadership in Maryland by developing and conducting wellness policy training and providing resources for Child Nutrition Programs (CNP) staff that support the development and implementation of USDA wellness policy requirements.

POSITION DUTIES

Leads the development of a strategic statewide plan on wellness policy training and professional development for CNP staff and wellness committee members; develops and implements school wellness policy training and technical assistance to Maryland Child Nutrition Programs (CNP) and Agency Wellness Committees;  participates as a member of internal and external work teams to support comprehensive wellness policies; develops and delivers training activities aligned with current USDA guidance for wellness policies and Maryland’s state nutrition standards; manages relationships with external education providers and organizations that support staff training on strategies to improve the school and child care nutrition environment.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Public Health/Administration, Education or a related area.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of professional experience in program administration; nutrition/health education; or related area is required, developing and managing training or collaborative projects with a variety of stakeholders is preferred. A masters degree may substitute for 2 years of experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred: Knowledge of Child Nutrition Programs; knowledge of project management strategies and processes; knowledge of program management and financial management; skill in planning, developing, and presenting training programs; skill in researching, collecting  organizing and managing data; ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals from a variety of organizations; ability to interpret policies and procedures, assess programs, identify problems, and determine improvements and solutions; ability to use sound judgment; ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment.
