Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual Medical Care Program Associate II is the full performance level of work in a Medical Assistance Program in the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.  Employees in this classification apply, interpret and process program specific information, policies, regulations and guidelines in a variety of activities.  This position will review, interpret, verify and utilize Medical Assistance eligibility data to accurately update and maintain the Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) Recipient Eligibility sub-system in accordance with State and Federally mandated policies and regulations.  The incumbent will analyze and research each recipient's eligibility for Medical Assistance by utilizing various State and Federal computer information systems.  The employee will resolve discrepancies that prevent recipients from receiving Medical Assistance benefits in a timely fashion and provide customer service to various agencies regarding issues related to Medical Assistance eligibility.  The selected individual will act as Liaison with DHR/LDSS regarding all policy and procedural requirements of the MMIS Eligibility File and provide on-going eligibility services for approximately 840,000 individuals certified through the State's Medical Assistance Program.  This position has the added responsibility of maintaining the integrity of the Recipient Eligibility File by researching, resolving and updating complex Medical Assistance cases.  The selected applicant should have knowledge of the Maryland Medical Assistance Program with one year experience in establishing eligibility in a medical care program and possess excellent data entry skills.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  Two years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.

NOTES:

1.  Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2.  College credits from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of 30 credit hours for one year of experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desirable applicant should have knowledge of the Maryland Medical Assistance Program with excellent data entry skills and one year experience in establishing eligibility in a medical care program.
