HIRING BEGINS IN MARCH AND CONTINUES INTO THE SUMMER MONTHS.

Main Purpose of Job

Seasonal Employees needed to assist with surveillance and control of mosquito populations in Maryland. Work involves: handling, mixing and applying pesticides; mosquito collection; field inspection; mosquito surveillance.

POSITION DUTIES

Hourly pay rates are as follows:

Mosquito Control Assistants:  $ 10.00 base to $ 12.00 per hour

Mosquito Control Technicians:  $ 11.00 base to $ 13.50 per hour, with night shift differential

Mosquito Control Supervisors:  $ 12.00 base to $14.50 per hour, with night shift differential

(Increments above base awarded for experience/education)

Duties may include:

  • Handling, mixing, and applying pesticides.
  • Mosquito collection.
  • Field inspection.
  • Mosquito surveillance.
  • Supervision.

Involves contact with the public, exposure to biting/stinging insects, ticks, poison ivy, pesticides, and extensive walking in suburban, wooded and wetland areas.  Employees may be required to wear protective equipment.  Some shifts involve working evenings and early morning hours.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Age:  16 for Assistants; 18 for Technicians and Supervisors

High School Diploma/GED required for Technicians and Supervisors

Valid Driver's License required for Technicians and Supervisors, with no more than 5 points on driving record

Supervisors must have a minimum of three months experience performing mosquito control work or other pesticide/pest control work.
