Main Purpose of Job

To perform various duties as a member of the maintenance unit serving as the units plumber. Duties include maintaining, repairing and servicing the center's plumbing, heating, and cooling systems. Additional duties can also include routine maintenance work, daily work orders, as well as special projects and snow removal duties.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of the eighth grade.  

Experience: Two years experience as a journeyman plumber, one year of which includes installing and repairing sanitary plumbing appliances.

Possession of a Maryland Journeyman/Gas Fitter License is required and must be indicated on application.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of the use of the tools, materials and methods of the plumbing trade; Knowledge of the requirements for domestic water and waste disposal systems; Knowledge of State, federal and local plumbing codes, laws, rules and, regulations; Skill in the use of plumbing tools, materials and methods; Ability to install, repair and maintain sanitary plumbing systems, fixtures, pipes and appliances; Ability to understand and interpret drawings and specifications; Ability to understand, carry out and give directions.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Possession of a valid Maryland Journeyman / Gas Fitter License is required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

This position may be subject to overtime hours and is considered Essential Personnel during emergency situations.   Instances of call-back hours may be applicable at times for emergencies.
