Introduction

LOCATION OF POSITION

MSD, Columbia Campus, 8169 Old Montgomery Road, Columbia, MD 21044

Main Purpose of Job

To provide speech, language and aural rehabilitation services to MSD students, including those who may have multiple handicapping conditions. Speech-Language services help to support a bilingual approach by facilitating and enhancing student communication skills. This may include development of alternative/assistive communications skills.

POSITION DUTIES

Direct therapy sessions – group and individual, plan for sessions (speech/language, functional communication, feeding/swallowing); complete listening checks; complete assessments (informal, formal: initial/annual/3 year; coordinate with classroom teachers about students; create educational material; complete paperwork and required documentation; attend meetings, mandatory in-services

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Set by the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language pathologists.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Possess American Sign Language (ASL) skills or be willing to become fluent in ASL Trained in Phonemic Awareness and Augmentative Communication.  Have experience working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing population.  Have experience with pediatric feeding/swallowing.  Have experience with Applied Behavior Analysis

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Must possess a current license from the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
