Introduction

As such, we are looking for dedicated individuals who can join us in the education of the children at MSD.
Main Purpose of Job
The purpose of this position is to provide educational leadership for MSD's High School and provide supervision of its staff and students. The High School Assistant Principal will communicate high expectations for student and teacher learning and will maintain a safe and positive environment in which all can thrive. Central to this is the strong maintenance and continued growth in the area of Bilingual Education. This position is responsible to align all aspects of the program to the school's mission. This includes working with the other departments of MSD -“ Family Ed, Elementary, Middle“ and with MSD's Columbia campus.
POSITION DUTIES
Participate in the implementation and maintenance of Maryland’s College and Career Ready Standards; provide models of effective teaching strategies to instructional staff; assist in the assessment of staff needs and provide professional development; evaluate job performance of teachers, aides and other staff; systematically maintain and review students learning data to improve instruction, intervention and placement; assist in the development and implementation of IEPs; direct and assist in management of students’ behavior; participate in the coordination of class scheduling and teacher assignments; participate in the review of applications, interview of applicants, and submitting recommendations for hire of new faculty members and professional staff; and assume other responsibilities as designated by the Principal.
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in Education of Deaf students, Education of Deaf students with additional disabilities or Special Education required. Three years of successful classroom teaching experience with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students required.
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
Must be fluent in American Sign Language and written English.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Must hold or be eligible to obtain the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Administrator I certification in the required timeframe.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
