Introduction
This is a Special Appointment position at the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions. The incumbent will work at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

Main Purpose of Job
This position serves as the Senior Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor for the Driving Training Facility at the MD Police and Correctional Training Commissions and assists the Driver Training Facility Administrator with the daily operations and management of the unit. This position develops, delivers, and/or facilitates professional emergency vehicle operations training for law enforcement and correctional personnel.
POSITION DUTIES
Some of the duties for this position include:
Assist and coordinate scheduling of training programs and provide assistance to respective agencies for scheduling training at the driver training facility.
Present instruction (classroom and practical) for emergency vehicle operations training programs; monitor training
exercises for completion, content, competency and safety procedures; and prepare and evaluate student’s performance.
Supervise allied department instructors while they are conducting their own training programs at the facility.
Ensure accountability of unit equipment utilized during training exercises, i.e. helmets, radios, first aid equipment, stopwatches, tire pressure gauges, vehicle fluids, keys, training vehicles, etc.
Oversee the daily operations of the Driver Training Facility in the Administrator’s absence and perform other related duties as assigned by the Driver Training Unit Administrator.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of three years of occupational experience operating an emergency vehicle.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
