Main Purpose of Job
The Fiscal Accounts Supervisor performs several different functions including reviewing contracts for compliance, maintaining the working fund, petty cash fund, accounts receivables and cash receipts for Maryland Public Television. This position also supports some financial activities of the MPT Foundation.
POSITION DUTIES

Verifies cash and checks for Mail Money Lists

Properly codes invoices
-
Prepares cash receipts distributions
-
Maintains accounts receivable controls
-
Enters new invoices and balances into FMIS
-
Compiles aging data
-
Sends past-due notices as appropriate
-
Initiates collections actions when necessary
-
Maintains cash journal
-
Writes checks from working fund
-
Prepares monthly activity reports
-
Reconciles all sources of income
-
Submits monthly journal voucher transfers and adjustments

Verifies payroll check register
-
Serves as liaison to State Insurance Division

Verifies correct budget numbers and sub-object codes are correct

Serves as agency fleet manager for approximately 15 vehicles, entering mileage into state system

Audits transmittals and certificates of deposit for accuracy, coding and compliance with State regulations

Procurement Credit Card Coordinator

Coordinates travel expenses

Insurance Coordinator including annual insurance survey

Supports the underwriting staff monthly adjustments and reporting

Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
AA Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in basic accounting
4 years related experience
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of State's current accounting system
- Knowledge of general accounting and auditing principles
- Working knowledge of State's procurement and payroll systems
- Ability to perform intermediate arithmetical functions
- Ability to create reports and track data in database and using Excel software
- Ability to read and interpret financial reports
- Ability to perform data entry accurately and quickly
- Ability to supervise or lead other accounting staff
