Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to assist the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in determining cause and manner of death by conducting tests for toxic substances in biological specimens submitted by medical examiners.   Job duties include:  serving as the Toxicology Laboratory's Quality Assurance Officer; assisting the toxicologist in the management of the Toxicology Laboratory; and, conducting research in forensic toxicology.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Qualified candidates must possess a Ph.D in toxicology, pharmacology, chemistry or related field from an accredited college or university and certification by the American Board of Forensic Toxicology (ABFT) as a Fellow of the ABFT in Forensic Toxicology or a Diplomate of the ABFT in Forensic Toxicology, or become certified within one year of eligibility.

This is a Special Appointment position.
