Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for providing network and help desk support and additional services to MSDE staff, Office of Child Care regional offices including the tracking systems for end users located statewide and within two different State Agencies.

POSITION DUTIES

Consults with users for local or wide area computer network software needs; assesses existing software and hardware to survey sites where networks will be located; participates in the design of the structure of local or wide area computer networks; installs operating system software and network communications software for computer networks; prepares and assembles technical documentation and user documentation for network software and hardware; monitors the performance of the network software and hardware through network management and diagnostic programs and utilities; maintains and analyzes records of network activity and recommends and implements network software and hardware upgrades; diagnoses network software and hardware problems and makes repairs and adjustments or obtains service from software and hardware vendors and maintenance vendors; approves users network privileges and provides ongoing user support.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other information technology-related field to include coursework in systems analysis and applications programming, high level computer programming languages, and developmental tools.  

Experience: One year of experience developing .NET software applications using C#, VB, JavaScript, Ajax, XML, CSS, and SQL. Experience designing and administering relational databases.  Experience developing in Sharepoint and using Sharepoint Developer, InfoPath, MS Visual Studio, and Team Foundation Server.  

Notes: 1. Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other information technology related field to include coursework in systems analysis and applications programming using third generation or other generally accepted computer programming languages may be substituted for the required experience. 2. An additional year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining applications systems and programs using third generation or other generally accepted computer programming languages may be substituted for the required education.
