Main Purpose of Job

Responsible for supervising Child Care Licensing Specialist for inspecting, licensing, monitoring and enforcing child care regulations in child care centers, family day care homes, and non public nursery schools.

POSITION DUTIES

Responsible for supervising Child Care Licensing Specialists for inspecting, licensing, monitoring, and enforcing child care regulations in child care centers, family day care homes, and non-public nursery schools.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:  A Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Education, Social Work or Psychology from an accredited four-year college or university.

EXPERIENCE: Four year(s) 4 of experience inspecting, licensing and monitoring child care centers, family day care homes and non-public nursery schools.

NOTE:  

1. Possession of an associate’s degree in early childhood development, teacher education, sociology or psychology and two years work experience inspecting, licensing and monitoring child care centers, family day care homes and non-public nursery schools may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.

2. Applicants may substitute graduate education in Child Development curriculum at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester hours per year for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Employees hired into the Child Care Licensing Specialist job series prior to July 1, 2007, shall be considered to have met the above specific education requirements.
