POSITION DUTIES

    The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for an Investigator in the Home Builder Registration Unit (“HBRU”) of its Consumer Protection Division.  The position requires a self-motivated person to work with the HBRU to investigate and prosecute violations of Maryland's consumer protection laws, including laws concerning home builder registration, protection of consumer deposits, construction defects, and related matters. The position is responsible for working with the Division’s Chief Investigator and the HBRU’s Assistant Attorney General and Administrators to obtain, compile and maintain evidence; interview and take statements from consumers, builders, and other witnesses; find documentary evidence, including through electronic sources of data; review, analyze, and report upon information or evidence, uncovered or obtained during investigations; write investigative reports, affidavits, subpoenas and other necessary documents for civil and administrative proceedings; and testify in enforcement proceedings.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    The ideal candidate will have the minimum requirements of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and relevant experience OR graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and five years relevant experience. Experience in database and spreadsheet software preferred; paralegal and interviewing experience desirable.
