POSITION DUTIES

The Deputy Director of the General Accounting Division is responsible for the Administrative Services, Office Systems, Vendor Payment Services, and Corporate Purchasing Card functions, which includes the planning, directing, coordination and control of the aforementioned operations. This position assists the GAD Director in the administration of the division, including strategic planning, budget formulation and personnel management.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:  A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in accounting, public administration, or computer science.

Experience:  Seven years of professional accounting experience at least four of which must have been in a management capacity in the accounting field.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA license
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Comptroller's Statewide (R*STARS) accounting system or an enterprise level accounting system
  • Knowledge of Federal Treasury regulations pertaining to backup withholding, 1099 information returns, and debt collection
  • Knowledge of enterprise level corporate purchasing card programs
  • Knowledge of Project Management software and procedures necessary to insure the timely and successful completion of IT, business improvement and research projects

EXAMINATION PROCESS

Applicant qualifications will be evaluated based on submission of the information submitted. Candidates whose background and qualifications most closely match the position requirements will be invited to interview. Therefore, it is essential to list all relevant information in detail. Candidates continuing through the selection process are also subject to a comprehensive background investigation including a review of their criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
