Main Purpose of Job

This position serves as the Deputy Director, Environmental Health Bureau (EHB) of the Prevention and Health Promotion Administration. The position assists the Director in managing the internal operations of the EHB including: personnel functions, trainings, and workforce development initiatives; budget development; grant application and reporting coordination and submission; procurement processes; policy and procedure development; and other operations related functions. The Deputy Director is also responsible for ensuring program collaboration and service integration within EHB and among PHPA program areas. The position may act for the Director in the Director's absence.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university,  preferably in a biological, physical environmental science or chemistry, and six years of experience involving inspections and investigations in the field of environmental health or closely related environmental health experience.   Three years must have included management experience responsible for developing budgets, tracking expenditures, and staff recruitment.  

A master’s degree in Public Health or Environmental Health Science is preferred and may substitute for one year non-supervisory experience.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background and interest in environmental health operations in a complex organization.
