Main Purpose of Job

The primary function will be the supervision of the coordination and delivery of In-Service Training programs for the Department. The incumbent is also responsible for providing staff development and process enhancements in accordance with the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions' regulations and Departmental policies by providing efficient and effective programs and services.

The incumbent also manages and coordinates the bidding and hiring processes for obtaining alternative training resources from private vendors and other governmental agencies.

The incumbent supervises the daily activities of 5 regional training managers/coordinators and 2 management learning program coordinators in the performance of their regular duties.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE: Five years of experience in administrative staff or professional work. Two years of this experience must have involved the supervision of other employees.

NOTE: Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of 5 years experience training staff

A minimum of 5 years experience in a criminal/juvenile justice setting 

A minimum of 3 years experience involving the use of Crown Point Technologies Skills Manager software program

Must be currently certified by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission as an instructor

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Must be a current State of Maryland employee.
