Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for the overall operation of the Baltimore Cash Office of the Central Collection Unit (CCU). This includes but is not limited to communicating with the Satellite Office Manager regarding personnel and operational issues as required; maintaining control of overtime; supervising and monitoring the productivity of Collection Agents who perform collection duties; supervising and monitoring the productivity of Fiscal Account Clerks who process payments received from debtors visiting the Baltimore location; supervising and monitoring the productivity an Office Clerk who receives and distributes mail correspondences and logs payments received via mail. This also includes providing customer service to debtors via telephone and in-person. This position participates in the formulation of collection policies and procedures and establishes or adjusts collection methods within this area of responsibility. This position will serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:    A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.  

Experience:  Two years of full time experience collecting overdue payments for delinquent accounts.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous cash handling experience.

Previous supervisory experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates are required to undergo a criminal background check as part of the selection process due to the financial nature of the job.
