POSITION DUTIES

This position is responsible for the Baltimore Office of the Central Collection Unit (CCU). This includes collecting all delinquent accounts referred from various Maryland state government agencies. This position is responsible for personnel and operational issues as required; maintaining control of overtime; supervising Collection Agents who perform collection duties; and other positions who process payments and providing customer service to debtors waiting for service.  This position will serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:  Four years of full time experience collecting overdue payments for delinquent accounts owed.

Note:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in financial or credit investigation, claim investigation, debt collection, or work requiring investigation and preparation of written reports on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates are required to undergo a criminal background check as part of the selection process due to the financial nature of the job.
