Main Purpose of Job

This is a statewide professional level position which supervises the agency's Consultative Examination Scheduling Unit and is aimed at promoting the medical community's understanding of and participation in the disability program with special emphasis on the consultative examination process.

POSITION DUTIES

Manage the agency’s Consultative Examination Unit; develop, implement and oversee the agency’s CE quality assurance process, including the CE monitoring process; coordinate and conduct ongoing statewide CE provider recruitment; coordinate operating procedures for the routine and high risk CE monitoring process with different agency components; coordinate and conduct internal and external training related to CE process and oversight; provide onsite orientation and training to new CE providers regarding Social Security Administrations (SSA) requirements; participate in community outreach and education activities; review, update and implement annual fee schedule for Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) and DDS purchased medical services; perform other related duties associated with the CE oversight plan and other special assignments in response to agency needs.  

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree is required.   A Master's Degree or equivalent 36 post baccalaureate credit hours is preferred.

Experience: Five years of professional experience in the adjudication of Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income disability claims. A Master’s Degree may be substituted for two of the required five years of experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

In-depth knowledge of Social Security laws and regulations; skills and ability to learn and utilize available computer applications; oral and written communications skills dealing with a large spectrum of contacts both internally and externally to resolve agency and claimant issues; skills in planning, organizing, multi-tasking, and time management; ability to lead, motivate, control, evaluate, develop people, and facilitate teamwork; ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and demonstrate sound judgment in decisions.
