Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to organize and oversee the production of printed products and material. The incumbent will assist in overseeing all aspects of running a print shop, while supervising adult offenders in a Correctional Facility as a Graphics Supervisor.

POSITION DUTIES

An MCE Officer-Trainee in the Graphics Plant is required to perform off-set and digital printing as well as silk-screening. Plan and schedule production operations, coordinate delivery of finished product to customers. Establish and maintain a uniform production and an inmate training record system. Prepare proposals for contracts and evaluate current methods being used for production efficiency. Brief subordinates on policies and procedures within DPSCS as well as MCE. Enforce Safety, Security and Fire regulations. Review and take action relative to inmate complaints and infractions.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a High School Diploma or a State High School Equivalence Certificate.

Experience: Agency desires at least 1 or more year’s knowledge and experience of the printing process, including running the press, collator, binder, stapler, and thermo binder. Operating knowledge of offset printing presses, silk-screening, and graphic related computer skills required at hire Experience required in a fulfillment operation that handles a variety of items and shipments for multiple customers. Candidate must have computer skills with Microsoft Office. Specialized software used in mailing operations is a plus. Candidate must be a detail oriented self starter with a proven track record able to work in a fast paced environment.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Possession of a valid class C Driver’s License. 

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
