Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to function as a fully privileged member of the Medical Staff of CTPHC.  The incumbent attends 20-30 beds in the patient ward and serves as the team leader of the interdisciplinary team.  The physician will manage the administration of the ward and the treatment provided to the patients under his/her supervision. The ward physician will provide full psychiatric care, forensic evaluation as necessary and medical screening as necessary in conjunction with the medical clinic.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university.

Experience: As required for certification in an area of medical specialization by an American Medical Association Specialty Board.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Applicants must be certified by an American Medical Association Specialty Board in an area of medical specialization.

2. Applicants must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A copy of the current license must be attached to the application.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
