POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to audit, compile and prepare for processing transactions entered into the accounting R*STARS system in accordance with the Accounting Procedures Manual (APM); to reconcile the reports produced by the System; and to prepare various financial reports as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing.

Experience: Three years of professional accounting experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant
  • Experience preparing, reconciling or auditing state or local government accounting transactions
  • Experience preparing financial statements or researching state or local government accounting or reporting issues

EXAMINATION PROCESS

ONLY APPLICANTS WHO MEET THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS RECRUITMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.  The examination may consist of a rating of your education, training and experience.  It is essential that you submit complete and accurate information on your application in order to determine if you meet the qualifications as specified above, including a non-editable, unofficial copy of your college diploma or transcripts as applicable prior to the closing date.  Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of completing the application.  All information concerning your qualifications must be received by the closing date.   Successful candidates will be ranked as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified and placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year.

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview.  Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.  Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six month probationary period.  This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.
