Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide all facets of housekeeping and limited linen services in order to maintain a clean, safe and sanitary environment for staff, students and visitors.

POSITION DUTIES

Daily: Clean, disinfect, remove debris & sanitize as necessary all: porcelain appliances, walls, door and partitions, mirrors, windows, screens, window ledges and doors, lighting fixtures, trash containers, curtains, drapes and blinds, Examination tables & treatment tables, pictures, handrails, Elevators, stairwells, baseboards and Vocational area shops, telephones, furniture & chairs, Kitchen appliances, computers and other office equipment, including stoves, refrigerators and other appliances as needed, and as needed, Clean and polish plumbing fixtures  

Vacuum clean, dust, mop or sweep, striping, waxing and or polish as necessary all: Floors and hard surfaced areas, carpets, stairwells and entry ways. Organize janitorial closets and store flammable and other items per code.

Mixes concentrated chemicals with water for specific cleaning purposes in accordance with manufacture specifications and product labeling.

Performs operator equipment cleaning, checks and maintenance on all equipment items utilized by and under the charge of the employee during its use.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: None.

Experience: None.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and, therefore, may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.
