Main Purpose of Job

Position will be responsible for Master Reconciliation activities. The activities are more complex than those assigned to the Accountant II positions in the agency because of the required knowledge of all the different accounting systems configurations that are not a part of the State systems.

This position is responsible for the assimilation of all that financial information into information that the agency can use for performing Complex Bank Statement Reconciliations on a Monthly Basis in order to satisfy Legislative Audit requirements.

This position will be dealing with a bank account of approximately $800,000,000 and will be monitoring cash receipts (approximately 200,000 a year) and cash disbursements (18,000 a year) affecting the accounts of 35,000 account holders. Records of the Agency are maintained on the Banner systems which is includes an automated recordkeeping system. Must be able to interpret and develop refined data to be used in complex reconciliation.

Will also be responsible for designing, modifying and implementing accounting methods and procedures to increase the reliability and efficiency of this complex reconciliation.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing.

Experience: Three years of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with thirty credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing for the required education.

2. Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above.

3. Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

4. Applicants may substitute one year of professional auditing experience for one year of the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One year of accounting experience in the banking, brokerage and/or insurance industries.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in the use of accounting and other financial computerized systems.
Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
