THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF THE COMPTROLLER OF MARYLAND.

LOCATION OF POSITION

POSITION DUTIES

The purpose of this position is to supervise and direct the staff in the following functions of Fiscal Administration Section, Compliance Division: time & leave keeping, transmittal edit, accounts payable, and mobile homes sales & use tax collection. This position is also responsible for processing the bi-weekly payroll for division employees, coordinating parking, and performing the monthly reconciliation of the working fund bank account.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.

Note: Experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required high school education.

ONLY APPLICANTS WHO MEET THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS RECRUITMENT and WHO ARE CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF THE COMPTROLLER OF MARYLAND WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.  The examination may consist of a rating of your education, training and experience.  It is essential that you submit complete and accurate information on your application in order to determine if you meet the qualifications as specified above, including a non-editable, unofficial copy of your college diploma or transcripts as applicable.  Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of completing the application.  All information concerning your qualifications must be received by the closing date.   Successful candidates will be ranked as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified and placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year.

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview.  Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.  Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six month probationary period.  This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.
