Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for providing administrative and technical support to the Office of Information Technology (OIT), Security, and Administrative Divisions. This includes assisting OIT internally and DHMH units externally to develop, modify, and implement information collection systems supporting agency security policies, and audit requirements.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience converting data from project specifications by developing programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or other development tools.

Notes:

1. Experience in one of the following areas: operating computers, scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining backups or data storage, processing data on computers, or evaluating, implementing and maintaining hardware and software may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.

2. Nine credit hours from an accredited college or university in applications programming using generally accepted computer programming languages or other development tools may be substituted for the required experience. (A copy of transcripts (official or unofficial) must accompany application when using this substitution.)

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant should have experience in IT system security classification and data categorization using FIPS & NIST standards 200/199 & 800-53; be able to independently conduct IT system security review, scoring, analysis, and report writing; and be able to work with programming staff to modify web-based collection tools to meet security program requirements.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
