Main Purpose of Job

This position provides technical support for the IT asset inventory for the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Headquarters. This position also provides technical support for MSDE conference room equipment and systems.

POSITION DUTIES

Maintains inventory of IT assets for MSDE Headquarters’ data center and end user community, using HP OpenView, or similar software; supports and manages the hardware/software procurement process, document submittals, software licenses and other procurement processes; coordinates disposal and transfer of IT equipment and requests for checkout of IT equipment; assists users in developing the conceptual design/configuration of personal computer systems and coordinates the development of personal computer system applications with programmer analysts; plans, coordinates and conducts formal and informal training programs for personal computer users.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience evaluating, implementing and maintaining personal computer hardware and software.

Note: Experience responding to and resolving help desk calls from users of computers, or operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, data base or other applications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
