Introduction
The Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates, to serves as a Docket Clerk.

Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to receive, schedule, and close a variety of appeals filed with the Office of Administrative Hearings.
POSITION DUTIES
Receive hearing requests, sent either directly from the appellant or forwarded to OAH by the Department, and enters case information onto case management system, which includes entering the case type, the agency’s case number, and all names and addresses of parties involved in the case
Where applicable, confirms hearing dates with attorneys and Administrative Law Judges, utilizing the “hold” calendar
Schedules cases using the case management system, taking into consideration case type, time constraints set out in COMAR, and location of hearing
Mails out hearing notices generated by the case management system and prints daily docket sheets for the Administrative Law Judges to complete at the scheduled hearings
Receives case-related correspondence and handles in a prompt fashion. Processes motions received according to office policy
Handles incoming telephone calls and inquiries from the general public and attorneys regarding hearings and scheduling procedures
Close out cases on case management system and files informal files as appropriate
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of experience scheduling and docketing a variety of administrative hearings or court cases.
Notes:
1. Additional experience in scheduling and docketing hearings may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to three years of the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in the law clerk classification or law clerk specialty codes in the law clerk field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
