LOCATION OF POSITION

Queen Anne's SCD, Centerville, Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

To serve as the administrative officer in implementing the policies and procedures of the Maryland Department of Agriculture and Queen Anne's Soil Conservation District Board of Supervisors, as directed by the Maryland Department of Agriculture Area Coordinator.

POSITION DUTIES

The incumbent will be responsible for supervising work of MDA, county, and district employees working in the local soil conservation district office by assigning and reviewing work, signing timesheets, approving leave and preparing performance appraisals. The incumbent will provide local administrative oversight to the Maryland Agricultural Water Quality Cost-Share program (MACS) to ensure adherence to the program guidelines contained within the MACS Manual. 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in soil conservation, water quality protection or related agriculture or natural resource programs.

Note: Additional administrative or supervisory experience in a soil conservation, water quality protection or related agriculture or natural resource program may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

Explain in detail your supervisory experience of a government program

Explain your experience with budget and funding request of a program

Explain your experience developing and implementing soil conservation programs

Explain your experience determining water quality violations  

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties and responsibilities which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS

Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.  Credit may be given for relevant part-time, temporary, or volunteer experience, if you list the number of hours worked per week.  For education obtained outside the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service.  This evaluation must be submitted with your application.  You must be legally authorized under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act to be hired in the position for which you apply.  Successful candidates will be ranked as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED, or QUALIFIED and placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year.
