Main Purpose of Job

This employee is responsible for the coordination and evaluation of nursing care for all inpatient wards of the entire facility during an assigned shift. This includes coordinating and planning nursing care, housekeeping and security for the entire facility in the absence of higher level hospital and nursing staff administration during the weekends and 3:00pm -11:30pm and 11:00am to 7:30am shifts when necessary (would comprise about 20% of work time). Employee will supervise all nursing staff assigned to the shift and have accountability for both patient care outcomes and human resource management. In addition, this position will manage Case Management and Social Services.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university. ]

Experience: Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two years in the option for which application is made and one year in a supervisory, administrative or consultative capacity.

Notes:

1. A Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the option for which application is made may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

2. Six years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include three years in a supervisory, administrative or teaching capacity in the option for which application is made may be substituted for the Education and Experience requirements.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. **A current copy of your license must be attached to this application**

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
