LOCATION OF POSITION

The current vacancy is located in Baltimore, MD.

Main Purpose of Job

This is a senior management position responsible for directing programs that have the highest scope and effect on DPSCS missions and operations, specifically through the direction and guidance of nursing staff Statewide providing oversight to vendor operations serving to cover all aspects of health and mental welfare of Maryland's 26,000+ inmates in its prison systems. The position plans, directs, and administers all aspects of nursing policy and procedure as well as performance outcomes for nursing and support staff Statewide.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Personnel Management: directly supervises nurses, senior nurses and administrative staff;
  • Staff Development: provides professional leadership, guidance and consulation to all staff under the position's supervision;
  • Quality Improvement Program Management & Monitoring: reviews contractor's programs for approval;
  • Infection Control/Communicable Disease Program Management & Monitoring: reviews contractor's programs for approval;
  • Other duties as deemed necessary.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Master’s degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five years of experiences as a Registered Nurse including four years of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity.

Notes: 1. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or health-related field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity may be substituted for the required education.

2. A PhD in Nursing from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of the required experience.

NOTE: Candidates for positions in this classification MUST POSSESS A CURRENT LICENSE as a REGISTERED NURSE from the Maryland State Board of Nursing. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1.Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.

2.Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
