Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to serve as a coordinator for Clinical Services and Professional Education for Colorectal, Prostate, Skin, Oral and Lung cancers for the Center for Cancer Prevention and Control (CCPC). This position will be a technical, clinical and professional resource to the Center's Director, Medical Director, Cigarette Restitution Fund (CRF) Programs Unit and other Center office staff, Local Health Department Health Officers and local program coordinators as it relates to Colorectal, Prostate, Skin, Oral and Lung cancers.

This position will be responsible for keeping abreast of current medical literature, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) policies/procedures and any other Federal, State and Local guidance and issues as they relate to the Colorectal, Prostate, Skin, Oral and Lung cancers. This position will facilitate professional education, monitor quality assurance requirements of the Center and of the Local Health Department programs that receive grants from the Center to carry out specified programs.

This position also functions as the technical liaison/contract monitor on all programmatic aspects to several assigned Local Health Departments regarding cancer prevention, education, screening and treatment in their jurisdictions and the implementation of their grant award programs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Master’s degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five years of experiences as a Registered Nurse including one year of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity.

Notes:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or health-related field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity may be substituted for the required education.

2. A PhD in Nursing from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have at least one year experience in the area of Public Health and one year experience providing professional education and monitoring quality assurance.  The successful candidate will also have experience using Microsoft Office 2010, including, but not limited to, Power Point and Excel.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. 2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
