Main Purpose of Job

To work in collaboration with the Physicians to provide medical direction, training, and guidance to the nursing staff and provide quality medical care in a warm family atmosphere. Provides direct medical care to chronically and severely ill patients whose census represents complex medical and secondary psychological disorders, including renally impaired, respiratory impaired, ventilator dependent, cardiac, stroke, diabetes, brain trauma, malignant disease, etc. Ensures compliance with all regulations, laws and standards (Federal, State, JCAHO) related to infection control, treatment and reporting.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses under the certification requirements for Nurse Practitioner or Nurse-Midwife.

Experience: One year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Nurse-Midwife.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nurse Practitioner or Nurse-Midwife classification or Nurse Practitioner or Nurse-Midwife specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Must Have 1 year Long Term Care experience to include treatment of Geriatric Individuals.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Nurse Midwife from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. **A current copy of your license must be uploaded and attached to this application**

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
