Main Purpose of Job

This position, serving as the Healthcare Facilities Compliance Evaluator, plays an essential role in assuring the regulatory and contractual compliance of Opiate Maintenance Treatment programs (also known as OMTs or 'methadone programs') in Maryland. The ADAA is recognized officially by SAMHSA as the State Opiod Treatment (CSAT) and its Division of Pharmacologic Therapies (DPT), which in turn enforces the Federal regulations of 42 CFR Part 2. The main purpose is to assess, evaluate, and improve the quality of healthcare that is provided in public and private OMTs in the State of Maryland.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience inspecting licensed health care facilities to ensure compliance with State and federal regulations.

Note: Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse may be substituted for the Education requirement.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires reliable transportation and excellent driving record as 70% of the work is done in the field. Experience and knowledge in the area of opioid treatment and medication management is desirable. Licensed health care professional is preferable. The successful applicant should have training in the treatment of substance use disorders and experience in providing health care services for SUD patients, and be able to conduct program evaluations and perform medication assessments for appropriateness of care.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing.  A copy of your license, license verification or license number and expiration date must be attached to your application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
